What hand signals should I know to use and how?
You may be wondering if I am the sound designer why am I the doing hand signals for filming when it is the directors job. But, I did it to help the director. For the very first day of filming I did not come prepared about what the hand signals were supposed to be used and what hand to clap over the other hand when you say cut, because I knew it was not my original job to do.
It was hard to find a video right then and there so I had searched up on google and clicked on the first website that related to what I searched. This is the link: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/video/tips-and-solutions/a-guide-to-film-set-lingo-and-hand-signals
The website helped understand the ways to face your hand for the number. For numbers 1-5 you use the fingers the right way(straight up) and for number 6-9 your finger are horizontal and when you hand is balled to a fist it means a zero(0) or ten(10). Luckily I already knew you put your right hand over your left hand when clapping in front of camera and then followed by the count down from 3 to 1 by me once I do that.
