Choosing Actors-Planning

Our group film requires three actors in total, but we have not officially secured any of them yet. We plan to have all of the roles confirmed by next week so we can move forward with filming and rehearsals. Although casting is still in progress, we do have a backup person in mind to play the male role in case our first choice is unavailable. This helps ensure that our production schedule will stay on track even if changes need to be made.

 Character #1- Lena

At the moment, I do not have a specific actor in mind for the role of Lena. Since Lena is the main character, this casting choice is especially important because she is meant to be portrayed as sweet, kind, and largely unaware of what is happening around her. The actor who takes on this role needs to clearly communicate Lena’s innocence and naïveté in a believable way. It’s also important that the actor can appear jolly and somewhat clueless so the audience can easily understand Lena’s personality and perspective throughout the film.If I were to get a known actor, I could see Amanda Seyfried playing the part.

 Character #2- Claire

I already have someone in mind to play the role of Claire, since her character needs to be portrayed as kind, friendly, and trustworthy at first, before eventually being revealed as the betraying friend. The actor I’m considering is very strong in her acting abilities and does a great job showing emotional shifts, which is especially important for Claire’s character change from trustworthy to disloyalty . She is particularly effective at playing darker or more “evil” roles toward the end of a story, making the betrayal feel believable and impactful. I also feel confident in this choice because she was one of the actors in my last film, so I am familiar with her range and know she can handle the complexity of this role well. If I were to get a known actor, I could see Camila Mendes playing the part.

 Character #3- Micheal 

Similar to the actor I was thinking of for Claire, I already have someone in mind to play the role of Micheal, since his character is meant to come across as sweet and nice at the beginning before slowly being revealed as evil toward the end. The actor I’m thinking of asking is very strong in his acting skills, especially because he has a background in theater, which shows in his ability to express emotion and handle complex character changes. He was also one of the actors in my last film, so I know he is capable of delivering a strong performance. However, there are a few pros and cons I’ve noticed: while his experience and talent are major strengths, he is a very busy person, and he also doesn’t fully match the physical look I originally imagined for the character. If I were to get a known actor, I could see Jordan  Calloway playing the part.
